Submitting a claim for Pending Royalties does not entitle you to be compensated for the use of the musical work. CSI must first assess your claim in order to verify whether you are in fact entitled to compensation, and may require additional documentation to verify your claim.
CSI will assess your claim by verifying, to the extent reasonably possible, that it does not conflict with other information on record at CMRRA, SODRAC, at the applicable record company or at other music licensing collectives. The claims information to be verified includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- The ownership percentage that is the subject of your claim does not conflict with the claim(s) of another copyright owner for the same Musical Work which would cause the sum of all claims for that Musical Work to exceed 100%;
- The ownership percentage that is the subject of your claim is not already claimed by a third party such as a music publisher or administrator;
- The royalties for the use of the Musical Work that is the subject of your claim have not already been paid to you, or to your current and/or previous music publisher/administrator;
- Reasonable evidence that the claimant is the copyright owner, licensee or authorized representative of the copyright owner, of the Musical Work that is the subject of the claim.
